Two (2) Years - The Golden Boot Award - "The Moppet"
Ever wonder about the origin of the Old Q two year milestone, The Golden Boot Award - "The Moppet"?
In April 2005, member Titotiger submitted a proposal to "The Q" to honor/recognize the 2, 3, 4, & 5 year milestones (in addition to the one year milestone already in place). Even before his recommendations were approved & implemented, Titotiger/Dave, posted 1-5 year anniversaries every day in the "Quitting Milestones" club on the Old Q because he wanted to "recognize all those who achieve these milestones". He did this until he celebrated his 10 year anniversary & retired from daily active participation on the Q.
In his own words, "I nicknamed the 2 year Golden Boot Award - "THE MOPPET" - in memory of my Q friend named Moppet who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on January 25, 2005. Moppet (Barb) was what the Q is all about. She joined here in an effort to quit smoking and Barb made herself a valuable and wonderful friend who encouraged others along the way. Moppet had a big smile surpassed only by her big heart. She adopted me as her Little Brother and she was my Big Sister and I loved my role. I quit exactly 1 month before Barb did so we shared a common quit day, the 12th of the month. It is impossible for me to have a monthly anniversary without thinking of Moppet. Barb will always be a part of me and with the Golden Boot Award "Moppet" will always be a part of the Q. I miss you Big Sister Barb and dedicate my own personal Golden Boot Award to your memory."
This post is in honor of both it's creator, Titotiger/Dave (Passed 5-20-14) & his reason for naming the award, Moppet/Barb (Passed 1-25-05). You both will not be forgotten.
